Spurs dress crowd in brightly-colored stripes with Fiesta-themed…

The San Antonio Spurs returned to the playoffs with a splash, debuting a colourful, well-coordinated set of playoff shirts for his or her first-round sequence against the Portland Trail Blazers. Rather than go for one shirt for the complete enviornment, the Spurs determined to get artistic, portray the crowd in brightly-colored stripes.

The blue-, pink- and orange-colored shirts are an homage to Fiesta San Antonio, an annual competition that takes place in April. The crowd coordinates with the colours on the Spurs’ uniforms for Sunday’s game, a part of the City Edition jerseys unveiled by the team in November.

The courtroom’s design matches the colours as nicely, with the paint decked in turquoise and a colourful stripe of all three colours across the center-court brand.

Audience participation was a key to the impact. Pregame, the Spurs singled out followers on the Jumbotron, asking them to placed on their shirts, and thanked the crowd for taking part.

Even Spurs legends David Robinson and Tim Duncan have been purchased in, carrying their marigold-colored shirts courtside.

That buy-in appeared to work, with almost every member of the crowd fortunately carrying their shirts — and cheering loudly from the bounce.

Sunday’s sequence opener marks the Spurs’ first playoffs look in six seasons. After a troublesome couple of years, however San Antonio is again in the postseason as a high-seeded team with the assist of star middle Victor Wembanyama, who’s nominated for league MVP in addition to Defensive Player of the Year.
