‘Good Morning America’ weekend co-anchor Janai Norman is out: report

A co-anchor of ABC’s “Good Morning America” weekend version is out after the Disney-owned network declined to resume her contract, according to a report.

Janai Norman, who joined “GMA Weekend” as co-anchor in 2022 after being employed by ABC News in 2016, is set to exit the program, the Status e-newsletter reported.

Her actual departure date is unclear.

An ABC News spokesperson declined to remark.

Norman joined ABC News in 2016 and has served as a correspondent and anchor across a number of packages.

She was named co-anchor of “Good Morning America” Weekend in 2022, becoming a member of Whit Johnson and Eva Pilgrim at the desk.

Before touchdown the weekend function, Norman was a New York–based correspondent and also anchored the early-morning packages “World News Now” and “America This Morning.”

She also hosted the “Pop News” section on weekends and helped launch the second hour of the Saturday version of “GMA” in 2019.

Prior to becoming a member of ABC News, Norman labored at local stations in Missouri, Oklahoma and Florida.

The “GMA” franchise has undergone a sequence of high-profile shakeups in recent times, significantly across its third-hour program and weekend lineup.

In 2023, the network put in DeMarco Morgan and Pilgrim as co-anchors of “GMA3: What You Need to Know” after the present was left without everlasting hosts in the wake of the departures of Amy Robach and TJ Holmes.

The same reshuffle noticed Gio Benitez added to the weekend desk, increasing the co-anchor lineup as the network sought to stabilize the broadcast.
