A Michigan-based candy maker is recalling two of its candy bars over the potential presence of undeclared nuts that might trigger a critical or life-threatening allergic response, the Food and Drug Administration said this week.

Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory issued the recall on Oct. 24 – just every week before Halloween. 

It warned its full-size Peanut Butter Crush bars could include undeclared cashews and its full-size Ca$hew Cow bars could have undeclared peanuts.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews or peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the company acknowledged.

It was not conscious of any sicknesses associated to the recall.

The treats in query had been distributed to retailers in Michigan and New York. 

The peanut butter bars had been packaged in yellow and purple containers with Lot #174250.

The cashew bars got here in light blue and yellow containers labelled with Lot #174250.

An investigation discovered “the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes,” Zingerman’s said.

The company said it has taken steps to ensure the downside has been resolved.
