AT&T clients affected by the $177 million data leak class action settlement are inching nearer to receiving their funds of up to $7,500.

The Final Approval Hearing was held at 9 a.m. CT on Jan. 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas. The courtroom was requested to consider whether or not the settlement is truthful, affordable, and sufficient.

Following the listening to, the federal choose presiding over the case, Judge Ada Brown, will resolve whether or not to approve the settlement. If permitted, AT&T clients might soon obtain their settlement funds.

However, the timeline for this choice stays unsure.

AT&T agreed to this substantial settlement to resolve a lawsuit alleging that it failed to shield clients’ private data from being leaked onto the darkish internet. This follows two separate data breach incidents in 2024.

The first incident came about on March 30, 2024, involving a data breach that uncovered clients’ data on the darkish internet. This included names, addresses, telephone numbers, e mail addresses, delivery dates, account passcodes, billing account numbers, and Social Security numbers.

AT&T reported the second incident on July 12, 2024, which concerned the unlawful downloading of shoppers’ name and textual content data.

“AT&T denies the claims alleged in the Lawsuit and denies any wrongdoing. AT&T has not been found liable of anything by any court,” states the press release from Kroll Settlement Administration.

How a lot will I get from the AT&T settlement?

The payout depends upon your AT&T settlement class, as there are two lessons.
