Police charge driver who allegedly killed a pedestrian while livestreaming on TikTok

Local police said they’ve charged an Illinois driver who struck and killed a pedestrian while she was livestreaming on TikTok.

The New York Times stories that Tynesha McCarty-Wroten, who posts to TikTok under the identify Tea Tyme, has been charged by the Zion Police Department with two felonies —  reckless murder and aggravated use of a communications device leading to demise.

In a video that has been reshared by other accounts on TikTok, lady posting as Tea Tyme can reportedly be seen talking into her cellphone when there’s a loud thud. An offscreen little one asks, “What was that?” then the lady replies, “I hit somebody.”

Surveillance movies reportedly confirmed McCarty-Wroten’s car getting into the intersection while the visitors light was still pink, with investigators figuring out that she didn’t appear to slow down or change course before hanging Darren Lucas, who was later pronounced useless at the hospital.

McCarty-Wroten’s lawyer told the NYT that proof will present that “what happened was an accident, was a negligent act, but was not an intentional or reckless act.”
