April 2 (UPI) — The Pittsburgh Pirates will promote shortstop Konnor Griffin, baseball’s top prospect, to their big league roster, they announced Thursday.

Griffin, 19, joined the Pirates as the No. 9 general choose in the 2024 MLB Draft. He hit .336 with 21 dwelling runs, 26 doubles, 95 RBIs and 68 stolen bases over the first 127 minor league appearances..

Griffin went 7 for 16 with three doubles and three stolen bases over his first 5 appearances this season for the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians.
