Billionaires Stephen Ross and Ken Griffin each relocated — from New York City and Chicago, respectively —  to Florida, satisfied it’s the best state in the nation to run a enterprise. Now they’re placing $10 million behind a new campaign to persuade other CEOs and founders to comply with go well with.

“The only place a CEO or founder can scale from 10 employees to 10,000 will be in South Florida,” Ross told me. “While other cities are still particular, they now not assist constructing enterprise and supporting ambition like you could find right here.

In a video the campaign plans to release, Griffin and Ross emphasize that “Florida is the future” and that Florida will turn into the “new Silicon Valley.”

Griffin, who based the Citadel hedge fund, is price roughly $51.3 billion, according to Forbes. Ross, the founding father of real property juggernaut Related Companies (and now leads its South Florida-focused spinoff, Related Ross), is price round $17 billion, Forbes stories.

The two are backing “Ambition Accelerated,” an initiative by the Florida Council of 100. The campaign targets CEOs and buyers with national advertisements and direct outreach, pitching Florida’s Gold Coast (the southeast a part of the state from Miami to West Palm Beach) as the premier place to scale a company.

Beyond promoting, the push features a devoted concierge program that connects executives with assets to make the transfer: serving to relocate operations, navigate laws and arrange store.

While companies have been fleeing New York and California for years — a pattern accelerated by COVID and laws — this marks one in all the first concerted, high-profile efforts positioning Florida as the go-to vacation spot for builders and innovators.

To make sure, each Ross and Griffin will profit from companies and executives relocating to South Florida (not that they want the cash).

Griffin, whose Palm Beach house is valued at $1 billion, is redeveloping a shopping mall in Palm Beach and increasing Citadel’s $2.5 billion headquarters in Miami.

Ross, who launched a Palm Beach-focused division of his Related company, has invested $10 billion in real property across the area.

But an advisor on the campaign notes that each males genuinely consider the future of American enterprise depends upon whether or not entrepreneurs can discover locations that really allow them to build — and those locations are getting more durable to search out.

They announced the effort today at the Wall Street Journal’s Invest Live convention in West Palm Beach. Signs at the event captured a distinction: One read, “They regulate ambition,” while another next to it declared, “We accelerate it.”

At the current World Economic Forum in Davos, Griffin expressed his frustration with Democratic insurance policies, saying the Biden administration’s laws had been “exhausting” and “cost the US economy dearly.”

The California Post reported that the the Golden State misplaced almost $1 trillion in wealth in just the past month as a consequence of fears over a proposed “Billionaire Tax” poll initiative, though it’s unclear what p.c of that wealth was moved to Florida. New York City, meanwhile, has reportedly misplaced at the very least $14 billion in taxes to Florida since 2020.
