Japan’s Streaming Market Hits $7.2 Billion, Report Finds


Japan‘s premium video-on-demand sector achieved $7.2 billion in total revenue during 2025, marking a 15% year-over-year increase, according to a new report from Media Partners Asia. The growth reflects platforms’ growing reliance on diversified income fashions, including ad-supported subscription choices, alongside larger funding in home programming and live sports activities rights.

Netflix holds the top income place with 22% of the class, while Prime Video leads in subscriber depend with 19.3 million customers, benefiting from cross-promotion within its broader retail and e-commerce operations.
