Disney names theme parks boss Josh D’Amaro as its new CEO

Josh D’Amaro, the longtime Disney government who runs the company’s global theme parks and experiences enterprise, has been tapped as the next chief government of The Walt Disney Company, ending Bob Iger’s lengthy and carefully watched succession saga at the leisure large, the company announced.

Disney’s board unanimously voted to raise D’Amaro, 54, the chairman of Disney Experiences, to CEO efficient March 18, 2026, when he’ll formally succeed Iger at the company’s annual assembly, the company said in an announcement.

At the same time, Dana Walden, the co-chair of Disney Entertainment, will tackle a newly created function as president and chief inventive officer, reporting on to D’Amaro and overseeing storytelling and artistic strategy across the company.

Iger, who returned to the CEO function in 2022 after his handpicked successor Bob Chapek was ousted, will stay on Disney’s board and serve as a senior adviser until his retirement on Dec. 31, 2026, the company said.
