Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, the world’s largest chipmaker, said Tuesday it had found “unauthorized activities” of staff suspected of stealing commerce secrets and techniques associated to its most superior pc chips.

TSMC, which makes chips for major companies like Apple and Nvidia, reportedly fired a number of employees after uncovering the safety breach “during routine monitoring” and contacted Taiwanese authorities.

The Taiwan High Prosecutors Office said it had arrested three folks concerned within the alleged theft and had searched their houses, the Wall Street Journal reported. The probe started after TSMC noticed them accessing safe firm information.

“TSMC maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward any actions that compromise the protection of trade secrets or harm the company’s interests,” the corporate said in a press release.

Nikkei Asia earlier reported that the corporate had fired a number of staff suspected of attempting to steal data associated to its modern 2-nanometer chips, that are set to enter mass manufacturing later this 12 months.
