Amanda Seyfried’s Best Actress Film

The trailer for “The Testament of Ann Lee,” a historic drama starring Amanda Seyfried, has been launched.

“The Testament of Ann Lee” takes place in the 18th century and follows Ann Lee (Seyfried), the founding spiritual chief of the Shaker Movement, who’s proclaimed as the feminine embodiment of Christ. The movie depicts her institution of the utopian society while the Shakers worship with tune and dance. 

Praised by movie critics and festivalgoers, “The Testament of Ann Lee” touches on religion, isolation and feminine empowerment set against the backdrop of more than a dozen unique Shaker hymns. Seyfried is receiving major Oscar buzz for her function, and Variety’s awards editor Clayton Davis presently predicts that she’ll get a best actress nomination.

In addition to Seyfried, the ensemble forged contains Lewis Pullman, Thomasin McKenzie, Stacy Martin, Christopher Abbott and Tim Blake Nelson. 

Mona Fastvold serves as director while also co-writing and producing alongside Brady Corbet. The two beforehand collaborated on “The Brutalist,” which earned 10 Academy Award nominations and received three, including best actor for Adrien Brody, cinematography and unique score. It also took residence three Golden Globes for best movement image (drama), director (for Corbet) and actor.

“The Testament of Ann Lee” premiered in competitors at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival on Sept. 1, the place it competed for the Golden Lion. At the competition, Seyfried acquired a 15-minute standing ovation for her performance. 

The movie is ready to open in theaters with a restricted release on Dec. 25.
