Stellantis teams up with Pony AI to develop robotaxis in Europe 


Automaker Stellantis and Chinese autonomous automobile company Pony.ai have signed a nonbinding settlement to build robotaxis for deployment in Europe.  

The collaboration will combine Pony’s self-driving software into Stellantis’ electrical medium-size van platform, which is constructed with superior sensors to assist autonomous autos.

The corporations plan to first deploy check autos based on the Peugeot e-Traveller mannequin. Testing will start in Luxembourg, Pony’s European headquarters, in the coming months, with plans to roll out more autos across European cities beginning in 2026.  

The tie-up comes a few months after Pony announced a partnership with Uber to deploy in worldwide markets, including Europe and the Middle East. It also comes after the company acquired an autonomous automobile testing allow from Luxembourg in April. 

As Pony.ai works to increase past its present markets in China and carve out market share in Europe, the company is also chasing a second IPO. Already listed on the Nasdaq, Pony is also pursuing a secondary itemizing on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.
